Risk Advisory is pleased to invite you to a special intelligence briefing on Bangladesh and India on 22 November.
The Islamic State attack on foreigners in Dhaka on 1 July was unprecedented in scale and targeting in Bangladesh. The attack – and the string of targeted murders before it – has changed the security and political environment in the country. The government has also used the threat to clamp down on the opposition and has become more autocratic in the process.
To the west, tensions between India and Pakistan have worsened this year. Following a terrorist attack on an Indian army base in Kashmir in September, the Indian army announced that it had carried out a ‘surgical strike’ into Pakistani territory. The recurring question of the risk of yet further escalation between the two neighbours and what might trigger such a crisis is as pertinent as ever.
Our lead South Asia analyst, Bhavin Vyas, recently returned from both countries where he spoke to local sources to assess the situation on the ground and get the view on the political dynamics shaping events and risks. He will share his findings and our assessments on both countries.
We do hope you’ll be able to join the briefing in person, or alternatively, we will be live streaming the event via webinar and a podcast will be available following the event.
